in one of the College of Social Sciences programs, have completed at least one
semester at SJSU, studying or conducting research or fieldwork outside the United States
and have a minimum 3.5 GPA in their major or graduate program and a minimum overall GPA
of 3.0. Upper-division students, furthermore, must have completed 60 units, with at
least one semester at SJSU.
Application Procedure:
- Complete the attached application form.
- Write a 2-3 page essay regarding how you will use the
scholarship, if awarded. (Discuss participation in a study abroad program or your
research study and how this will augment and/or fulfill requirements for your degree at
SJSU.)
- Attach your MY SJSU transcript. Request transcripts from
other universities/colleges. Submit these transcripts when they arrive.
- Attach a resume including employment, volunteer work,
studies and academic-related awards, achievements, papers or other publications.
- Include a faculty nomination letter. The nomination
letter should discuss how the study abroad, field work, or research enhances your academic
career at SJSU.
- If you have not already applied for financial aid for
this academic year, apply now with the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
You do not have to qualify for financial aid to receive this award, but you do have to
have some demonstrated financial need as determined by the SJSU financial
aid/scholarship office. To be able to determine financial need, they must have your FAFSA on file.
