Volunteer & Youth Mentorship Opportunity with Spartan Keyes NAC

posted May 17, 2012, 1:41 AM by Urban Planning Coalition SJSU

The Spartan Keyes Community Center operated by the Neighborhood Action Coalition (NAC) is in need of volunteers at their center. Currently the NAC (community center) is staffed and run by only three volunteers.

The NAC leaders would like SJSU students to volunteer at the center, helping kids with homework and also becoming somewhat of peer mentors, especially to the preteen and teenage boys. These kids need someone to look up to and of course I believe all of the UPC members are great role models for any young kids and teens.

If you would be interested in volunteering some time this summer (or know anyone who would) please contact Laura Williams, UPC Social Chair at laurawilliamsupc@gmail.com. The community center would greatly appreciate the help and volunteers would be a great ambassador of SJSU and the UPC to the community. For students enrolling in the SJSU Master of Urban Planning URBP 201 Studio course, this is the community you will be working with.
