Alvin Jen

Alvin Jen was born and raised in the mostly foggy Sunset District in San Francisco.  Having grown up in "The City", he developed a love/hate relationship with MUNI.  This is also where Alvin spent many years honing his craft, parallel parking and driving a car with manual transmission.

The University of Colorado Boulder (Go Buffs!) is where Alvin obtained a BEnvD degree with an emphasis in planning.  He has worked as an intern at the Children, Youth, and Environments Center where he was involved in several programs where children were encouraged to be active in their communities.  Alvin also has worked at the Visitation Valley Beacon Center where he provided tutoring and mentorship to inner-city middle school kids.  During his time spent in at the VV Beacon, he began to realize the importance of community outreach, and the positive role it plays communities.

Alvin is drawn to several facets of the planning field where he hopes to display a symbiosis of urban design, economic development, community development, and redevelopment in his graduate report.  He is also a passionate sports fanatic, where he roots for the @sfgiants, @49ers, @Warriors, @SanJoseSharks, and @CUBuffs.
