Dear Fellow MUP students,
It's truly been a great year serving as your UPC President and working with the amazing UPC leadership team!
I want to announce that we are currently seeking to fill several UPC positions for the next academic year and invite all of you to consider applying for one of the available board positions. Many of these positions do not require a large time commitment. Terms begin July 1st and many of current officers will be around to help transition new officers into their roles. Attached to this email you'll find the board member application that includes a current list of all positions. The deadline to submit your application is Wednesday, May 2nd, by 5PM.
The Urban Planning Coalition is a great way to connect with fellow students, alumni, and professionals in the field. This past year we've really boosted the profile of the UPC and established a number of new relationships with organizations like Oakland Pride and SPUR San Jose. San Jose’s Stormwater Permit Overview & Smart Growth Special Projects.
Tuesday, April 10th at 6:15pm to 07:15pm
Juan F. Borrelli works as an Environmental Services Specialist at the Watershed Protection- City of San Jose Environmental Services.
At this event he will discuss Provision C.3 of the City’s Stormwater Permit, which addresses all new development and redevelopment projects that trigger impervious surface thresholds. These projects are required to include site design, source control, and treatment measures to address pollutants in stormwater runoff and to prevent increases in runoff flow by using Low Impact Development (LID) techniques such as rainwater harvesting and reuse, infiltration, evapotranspiration, and biotreatment. The public will also, learn about Smart Growth “Special Projects” (e.g., urban infill, high-density, and transit-oriented development) that can receive LID treatment reduction credits to use specific types of non-LID treatment to address their stormwater runoff.
