Interested in art in urban spaces? Wondering why the New York Times listed Oakland as #5 on their list of the top 45 places to visit in 2012? Then come out for a night of fun touring some of Oakland's hippest art venues and other local dives during Oakland's First Friday Art Murmur. Several dozen galleries, bars, restaurants and street food vendors open their doors, set up food shops and random art installations. The first Friday art walk is a uniquely Oakland experience that draws thousands of visitors from across the region each month. While First Friday events happen at galleries and venues throughout the city, the epicenter of these events is located in Oakland's Uptown district. The district has been undergoing revitalization for the last several years and is now home to several famous restaurants, bars, art galleries, theaters, and cultural venues.
Join the UPC for a fun evening of meandering the streets of Oakland to check out local galleries, random street shows, and food vendors. This will be an informal tour.
